PDF from Spamhaus Site

With the attack by dDoS “Zombie” machines taken over by the Sobig.F worm on all Spam-Blacklist providers (as widely reported), Spamhaus and Melior have entered an agreement to defend Spamhaus against dDoS attacks with iSecure.

Melior provides the Internet presence and the iSecure systems to instantly discard all dDoS attack traffic.

“With the dDoS protection of Spamhaus and the SORBS/SPEWS blacklists through iSecure, Melior has the great opportunity to keep some of the largest Spam Blacklists providers operational, while all of them are under heavy dDoS attacks. This in turn keeps eliminating a significant portion of incoming Spam messages from entities such as the U.S. Military, government, aircraft industry, large banking institutions, computer manufacturers,  and the many other organizations which use Spamhaus and other iSecure-protected blacklist services. It is an excellent showcase for our iSecure product line.”

Update:
iSecure dDoS Defense Systems have been delivered to SORBS and SPEWS in the U.S. - the iSecure system sent to Australia was damaged in transport, a replacement system is sent to be set up.

As of Thursday, August 28th, PCs infected by variants of MS Blaster & SoBig.F have been linked to large-scale dDoS attacks on providers offering “Anti-SPAM Blacklists”, such as Osirusoft and SORBS.net - Osirusoft permantently shut their doors, causing wide-spread disruptions in e-mail deliveries, including the US Federal Trade Commission (FTC), which used Osirusoft to eliminate a lot of Spam messages (UCE). Melior, Inc. entered an agreement with SORBS and SPEWS, two of the remaining Blacklist providers, to provide iSecure dDoS-Defense systems in Brisbane/Australia and Connecticut/USA, in order to keep Anti-Spam Blacklist providers and the e-mail systems of their users (typically Government- and large commercial entities) online and operating normally.

“This is probably only one of the first instances to utilize the large network of compromised machines from the recent exploits, targeting all of the Blacklist Providers. Unfortunately, entire sections of any Government or eCommerce providers could be selected as well. We at Melior are pleased to be able to provide a working solution for SORBS and SPEWS to defend against these Denial-of-Service attacks.”

May 8, 2003 - Testimonial

“We are very pleased that Commerzbank publicly confirms the successful iSecure test, which we previously could not release due to Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDA) in place.”

Melior wireless access point ranked nationwide # 7 in the U.S.
by WIRED magazine

In its May 2003 print edition special, WIRED magazine ranked the Top 10 Unwired cities in the United States, and puts Dallas at # 7 with Melior’s former wireless service reference site at the Crossroads Market in the heart of the city.

“We are extremely pleased with the recognition of our reference site - the first of it’s kind in Dallas - by WIRED. It reflects positively on the city of Dallas as a hotbed for technology. The Crossroads Market installation showcased our previous wireless offerings, with native IP address spaces, full VPN and security capabilities, and demonstrates the increasing business revenue it provides to our bookstore and cafe partner Crossroads with its steadily growing user base.”

Melior joins U.S. Department of Defense SPOCK program

On April 1st, 2003, Melior joined the SPOCK Program, a forum of the US Department of Defense, Government Agencies, and civil security contractors.

“The recognition of the significance of our iSecure Denial-of-Service and Cloaking product, as much as enabling Melior to participate and contribute to the SPOCK program is a milestone in the evolution of Melior, Inc. from a security & infrastructure services company to a global CyberWarfare Defense solutions provider. We look forward to exchange information and share experiences with the members of SPOCK.”

Melior, Inc. releases modified and free F.I.R.E. CD
as an improved tool for the Forensics Incidents Response Environment and iSecure demonstrations.

“To enable our customers to perform the same attacks (in a controlled demonstration environment) as the “bad” guys subject them to, we have heavily modified the F.I.R.E. disk available in the public domain, and added all the necessary dDoS tools to it. Along with our iSecure real-time dDoS defense product, we level the playing field for the exploit of vulnerabiities on the Internet.”

Matt Gair, Melior, Inc. Co-Founder

“Adding extensive hardware support and improved functionality to this proven tool makes the Melior F.I.R.E. CD a much more usable instrument than the original. The added features and dDoS attack tools allow our customer base to verify and confirm the claims of the breakthrough iSecure technology.”

Melior (Latin for ‘better’) introduces iSecure-ILS, a better solution to CyberThreats, a White-Box Solution Developed by White-Hat Security Experts.

Melior, Inc. recently completed a month-long European tour and met with several large financial institutions, European Union governmental agencies, and world-renowned hackers and security experts to introduce and review the unprecedented capabilities of iSecure-ILS.

“We are really looking forward to establishing iSecure-ILS as the de-facto standard in Network Attack Defense for the international financial markets, and equally excited to see security managers readily understanding the difference of iSecure-ILS versus IDSs and Signature-based anomaly defense products.  It is becoming apparent to end users that latest generation security solutions are merely integrating QoS and IDS systems that throttle traffic at best and do not actually drop bad traffic. Our niche security space is on the verge of finding itself in a Potemkin village, and as users continue to suffer sustained attacks, even with these products in place, iSecure-ILS will become the clear and BETTER choice for a real solution to IP-based threats.”

Thomas J. Ackermann, Melior, Inc. iCEO and Founder

Upon returning to Dallas, Melior’s team set Internet precedence by making the first publicly available, cloaked and attack-safe network, with real-time surveillance and reporting of sustained attacks.

“This has never been accomplished before as other technologies do not have the wherewithal to survive such a test; we make the invitation for people to find out for themselves versus reading about canned simulations in comparison articles.  Anybody seeking dDoS Defense and Network Cloaking can launch and witness network information probes and distributed Denial of Service (dDoS) attacks; or any IP attack for that matter, against this server, which is protected by iSecure-ILS.”

Matt Gair, Melior Co-Founder

At 9:11am Central Standard Time (CST) on Saturday, Feb 22, 2003, Melior, Inc. made Internet History by setting up the first webserver ever on the Internet that cannot be dDoS'd - because it is protected by iSecure.

“Special thanks go to the Melior Team Members who were instrumental for the configuration and setup of all the systems to make this happen.
The single page on the webserver refreshes every 3 seconds to display current visitor information (IP and Name as well as server parameters such as the process number "remote port", and unique session ID) to show the server is still up & running even if heavily attacked by distributed Denial-of-Service while concurrently displaying traffic in front of and behind iSecure. The demo systems are also fully cloaked against information gathering.
Melior is going to drastically change the risk exposure companies and government face from the Internet.”
